Kirkjufell mountain has long been one of my favorite Icelandic landmarks to photograph, with its perfect natural symmetry and romantic aura. The enchanting Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall adds a dynamic foreground, enhancing the composition’s depth and charm. Capturing this serene "romantic" shot required a late summer evening vigil, well past midnight, under Iceland's never-ending daylight. Alone in the quiet landscape, I was surrounded by a pink and orange sky, with clouds aflame in warm hues above the mountain peak. Using a slight long exposure, I softened the water’s flow into silky ripples, highlighting the steadfast majesty of the peak rising prominently through the glowing sky—truly a king of the mountains.
About the Location
Kirkjufell, meaning "Church Mountain," is one of Iceland's most iconic peaks. Located on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, this majestic mountain is renowned for its symmetrical shape and scenic surroundings.
