Photographing the eruption of Fagradalsfjall in 2021 was a thrilling experience. Capturing the raw power of a volcano amid Iceland’s snow-covered plains required multiple visits to this dynamic site. From a breathtaking aerial perspective, I captured molten rivers of lava splitting into fiery streams, resembling skeletal hands reaching across the earth. The vivid orange glow of the lava contrasted starkly with the newly formed black rock and untouched white snow, creating a surreal and ominous scene. This moment of primordial beauty showcased the power of nature in its most dramatic form.
