About the Photoshoot

In the stillness of an Icelandic winter, the landscape transforms into a breathtaking stage for nature's most spectacular light show. For this image, the expansive night sky and the pristine, glassy surfaces of the glacier ice became the perfect canvas for the vibrant northern lights.

Capturing Winter's Crown required embracing the freezing temperatures and waiting for the exact moment the aurora swept majestically over the distant snow-capped peaks. The resulting photograph preserves the dynamic dance of pink and emerald green bands illuminating the dark, starry sky above the quiet, frozen lagoon.

About Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

Located in southeastern Iceland, Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is a place of profound and ever-changing beauty. Ancient ice breaks from the surrounding glaciers, floating silently as massive, luminous blue icebergs through the deep waters before eventually drifting out to the ocean.

During the winter months, the snow-covered shoreline and the glowing, sculpted ice chunks create a surreal, almost otherworldly environment. When the aurora borealis appears, the calm, icy waters act as a dark mirror, reflecting the celestial canopy and bringing the brilliant neon colors of the sky down to the frozen earth below.
