Background information about Argentinian Wilds
For landscape photographers, there are few parts of the world as inviting or magnificent as the vast, untouched wilds of Patagonia. With an enormous range of biomes, from forests to deserts, vast mountain ranges to breathtaking beaches, there is simply a world of wonder begging to be photographed.
Of course, however, the deeper you get into this wilderness, the more spectacular it becomes. On my first adventure to the region, I was planning the route and destinations for a possible photo workshop, being led by locals with an unmatched knowledge of the most stunning areas.
Every day of our journey presented me with more compositions and opportunities than I’d experienced in the landscapes of any country, all perfectly representing the potential beauty of earth’s nature when left unspoiled. This spot at the edge of the Andean Ridge, however, stood out even amongst the intense competition.
From the verdant pond in the foreground to the barren, snow-capped mountain range in the back, the composition transferred seamlessly from a pleasant, bountiful summer environment to one of inhospitable, winter lifelessness. Further contrasts, in the rounded corners of the waters and sharp blades of the peaks, and the distinct bands of green, orange, red and blue, revealed the incomparable diversity of the region.
